Re: Attention wordsmiths of the board

Aren't all long distance runners just frustrated introspective writer-artistes? They just can't express themselves in words adequate enough to convey the true essence of the joy/pain of the 10-mile tempo run.

    Attention wordsmiths of the board

"Think you might have something on the written word worth presenting to the distance running community. Then why not consider the July 8-9 Running Studies Conference in conjunction with running the Utica Boilermaker 15K, attending the Distance Running Hall of Fame induction ceremony (July 10), and examining the Syracuse Chargers National Long Distance Running Collection at Syracuse University? “Proposals are invited from all disciplines,” informs the Conference press release. “Proposals may be: critical analyses of running literature, fiction and non-fiction, including novels, plays, films, and poetry. Original works of fiction will also be considered. Abstracts should be no longer than two pages, double-spaced. Abstracts should be sent to D. Christopher Risker, Ph.D. Webster University, 470 East Lockwood Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63119 by April 1, 2004."
