Late on the turn, about 20-30 meters before the straightaway, he took one step in the lane to the left of where he was assigned.

At least that is what I saw on the slow motion replay. The violation was very clear, although I don't think any advantage was taken.

As a result of his performance, despite the DQ, his ranking jumped to #1 on Trackwire.

T&FN has talked to the timing company: the 44.29 was caused by an official stepping through the beam: Wariner was 44.48.
