but could Jill throw 20.51 ...and Ostapchuck has had the occasional disaster in big meets, the 2004 OG and either 2008 or 2009 where she struggled ..

Yes, Camarena finishing higher than third would be a big shock. And I do agree with T&FN's assessment that Gong is the no. 3 candidate for the bronze, though not by much.

I'm actually very excited about today's final. With all 13 women having thrown over 19 meters this year, this could be the best women's SP competition in ages.
It'll be interesting to see whether Nadine Kleinert can continue her streak. She's made the top 8 in every single major championship (OG, WC and EC) since 1997. If she can do it in Daegu, this will be her 15th in a row :shock:

WOW, that is stunning!!

Just had a look at her record:
3 silvers and a bronze at WCs
1 silver at OG
no medals at EC, but ridiculously consistent (6th, 6th, 6th, 7th)

Amazingly, though, Kleinert's streak is not the longest or best among current athletes. Virgilijus Alekna has finished in the top 5 in all majors since 1996 :!:

This is becoming a great competition, Adams 20.72 in the 4th, then Ostapchuk 20.05 in the 5th, Camarena-Williams 20.02 in the 4th and Gong 19.97 in the 5th!

The places may yet change in the 6th round
