  • If they only had a wind guage

Just saw this note on Dyestat.com (high school track)...

Coldwater MS sr Trell Kimmons tripled 9.91 100m, 20.90 200m, and 47.90 400m. There was automatic timing but no wind gauge. Observors said there was no significant wind.
If you're ever walking down the beach and you see a girl dressed in a bikini made out of seashells, and you pick her up and hold her to your ear, you can hear her scream.

History tells us that when two out of three times end in zero (particularly in HS meets) be very wary of auto-timing claims.

Agreed. Come on. Name one legit Sub 9.99 100 meter runner who would double that slow in the 200...Yeah, yeah, I hear ya'...even if it came after the 400. It'd be nice if I was proven wrong, but i think it's hogwash.

Well, I think Ben Johnson's best was about 20.7. However, I agree with ghill that times which all end in 0 and claim to be FAT tend to be suspect.

I was thinking the exact same thing and was actually wondering if you all would catch that. Nice one!

Re: If they only had a wind guage

There was also a 40-second 400 meters in that meet, so hand timing may not be the problem--unless they have a realy quick finger.

well noted Gardener et al...I'll be more careful before posting...It's just that I live in Texas and get sick of constantly reading 9.9's reported here....

I personally am also suspicious of lots of times ending ..4, they seem to often be conversions.
