Re: No love for Maggie Vessey ... ?

Vessey had her best season ever IMO. She ran more sub 2:00's this season then in her entire career previously I believe. She ran hard in Daegu, something like 57.x for the first 400. But the runners in front of her were simply stronger. Can she realistically drop he PR down to 1:56.xx to be a serious medal contender in 2012?

So the question is, "How can Vessey run the 800 faster"? Get stronger or improve her 400 PR, or both? Vessey has the #3 all-time fastest 400 m time at Cal Poly, SLO with a 53.86 sec. back in 2001. Has she ever bettered this time since then?

Hmmm...so Vessey would be next to last on this list. I guess she needs to work on her 400m speed then.

Is this a list of 800 runners or 800 runners with fast times relative to their 800 time?

800 runners who have run sub-2:00 this year and have a 400 PR listed on the IAAF Web site. Not comprehensive, but sufficient to answer the question.

Kostetskaya ran about 55.0 400h as junior world champ, so I'm sure she's lots faster than listed.
