Vessey did run hard in Daegu. From the race video it looks like she ran something like 57 low for 400. She never goes out that hard.

Vessey has, hopefully, shed her woeful tactics and is a threat in any 800 race, but if she's only a 53+ 400 runner getting under 1.56 will be tough. Since most major races are run at 1.57-1.59 she should be right in there.

Vessey didn't run the 800 at Soquel HS?
She may have but was mainly a 400 runner. And 200 as well.
    At Soquel High 400, 200, 4 x 1, 4 x 4 and long jump. Still has county record I think, in 400m and 200m from 2000. Fun to watch![/quote:krgnq6bz]
Yeah, and judging from the year 2000;she had to run against some great 400 m runners.Specifically Angel Perkins and the great Monique Henderson who set the national record at the state meet final that year in 50.76.

It's good to see some positive message wording vs. thread title. So here, notably for fourjz and 4:24-miler, are URLs to see (at IAAF website) a nice pair of Vessey photos:

Kostetskaya ran about 55.0 400h as junior world champ, so I'm sure she's lots faster than listed.

800 runners who have run sub-2:00 this year and have a 400 PR listed on the IAAF Web site. Not comprehensive, but sufficient to answer the question.

Is this a list of 800 runners or 800 runners with fast times relative to their 800 time?
