At this point you probably have to admit that Uceny could or maybe even would have won in Daegu.

        OK

When was the last time the US women had #1 (and WL time) in the 1500?

When was the last time the US women won WC/OG in the 1500?

And they are not the same runner!

If you'd asked me going in if an American could win the gold, I would have given a definite yes. And it wouldn't have been Simpson!

Uceny 3-1 over Simpson this year. Who gets No. 1?

Well, that race could have played out as an even bigger stunner with an American 1-2. When was the last time Americans went 1-2 in anything longer than a 400? (1/4 marathon in Munich, 1-3 in the 5000 in Rome? Wottle won the 800, but no second).

Uceny #1 for sure, but Simpson? Where do you put a WChamp who finishes 4,5,12,13 in Europe?

Some of us were saying that. Today was no surprise. Uceny has shown clearly she is number 1 this year. Too bad for her about Daegu but life goes on.

No offense to Jenny, but I think most would agree her WC victory was a bit of a fluke. Even she didn't believe she'd win, based on her reaction at the finish. And again, no offense to her; she seized the moment.

our WC Preview, in tagging Uceny for 3rd (behind Jamal and Langat) said, “The race-savvy Uceny isn’t a sub-4:00, but definitely knows how to win.”

And she's still not a sub-4:00, but has the WL and the inside track to a No. 1!

Great run by her today. I was willing her on to overtake the drug cheat, but very odd finish.

She just seemed to drift over the last 50m or so with no real attempt to go under 4.00. She easily could of with a bit more effort.

What I really like about her is she's tactically really astute and always in the right position, unlike the Brit girls who seem to get medals despite doing everything in their power not to.

If so, she will have about the same SB as Langat had last year when she was #1 but did not go sub-4:00.
