    Re: Women's 1500 Rankings [merged]

In watching the Brussels 1500, I got these finish-line splits for Uceny:

    300 46.6
    700 1:52.7 (66.1)
    1100 2:58.6 (65.9)
    1500 4:00.1 (61.5)

Also, 3:29.7 at 1300, so last lap was 31.1, 30.4.
So, her last 400 was essentially the same as Simpson's in WC, off a much faster pace. OTOH, due to the fast pace, Uceny had much less traffic to deal with in the last lap, despite the ridiculously large field in Brussels.

BTW, Uceny mentioned that she was trying as hard as she could to break 4.
    Cheers,

I know it is not officially a track event, but does Jenny Simpson's victory today in the 5th Avenue mile help her in the rankings at all? She beats England and Uceny among others in the race.

I believe gh has stated a few times that road races (other than the marathon) do not count for rankings purposes.

However, I'm sure T&FN will use this as additional justification for putting her on the November cover.

Cover choices might already be fixed, it must be relatively close to production time by now.

While I agree Uceny has had the better overall season, I don't think Jenny's finish at the WC ( after prelims days before) can be discounted. It is harder to run top times in the Championships because of tactics, rounds etc. Still if jenny is ranked higher than 3rd I will be shocked.
