Excellent road fields. I believe Uceny's 1500M PR has dipped to 4'00"06 .

Alysia Montano (standing right next to me now) is NOT rabbiting. The races have no rabbits, but they do have $1000 primes at half-way given to the leader as long as he finishes sub-4:00 and she finishes sub-4:32.

BTW, the athletes will wear name bibs. Each was give the choice of their first name, last name or nickname. Every woman but two picked their first name.

I hope the pair who went with surnames weren't these two:

36, Sujew, Elina, SC Potsdam, GER, None, 4:10.80

Seeing AJ Acosta "unattached" makes me wonder how a US 3:53 miler doesn't have a sponsor.

I didn't remember the race having pacemakers, but I noticed on Montano's bio that she has run exactly ONE 1500/mile in her career (2009), thus my question.

Quite the turn of speed for Kipyego. I can just see those gangly knees and elbows flying around everywhere.

Good to see Craig Miller run a good race here. He is good but with all the other milers around it is hard for him to get much attention and move up within the group. [Wisconsin interest, if not bias, on display ]

craig miller is a PA guy..

his senior year in hs, we wanted to break 4 in tbe 1600..went thru 1200 on pace, then boom, 71 last lap

it seems wisconsin gets really BIG guys, or at least BIG for a distance guy

i saw miller doing some rabbiting in europe this year

Could be finishing 11th and not making USA champs final? An non sponsored kid won a bronze medal in the 1500 meters. Dunno

Interesting you mention the size factor. A couple of people have commented that, in general, Jerry's recruits were 'bigger' than Mic's. The most notable new middle distance runner, however, certainly fits the 'big' mold -- Austin Mudd is no reed-thin distance guy. However, the longer-distance guys (e.g., Reed Connor) seem to be thinner now.

There was at least one big race where not only Miller but also Bolas (also not that small a guy) rabbited. I think that they got their marks dead on, so they may get some repeat business next year, and Miller seems to have liked his experience. It may also help that they move more air out of the way too.
