  • Damaging Headline.

Could one of the online editors either change or remove the headline that basically accuses all the Denver Public Schools high school coaches of being arrested for sexual assault on a child. Either be more specific in the title or eliminate it all together. The actual article has no problem with putting the name of the coach upfront.

    Re: Damaging Headline.

I didn't read the headline that way at all. The word "Coach" is a singular. Nobody could possibly think that all Denver HS coaches were accused of a sexual assault. I'm sure that the alleged offender was described as a Denver HS Coach simply because whoever wrote the headline thought it likely that few people outside of Colorado ever heard of the guy. Putting his name in a headline would have left readers of the headline wondering who he was. Describing him as a Denver HS coach told most of us all we needed to know.

Are we talking about the following headline?

"Denver HS Coach Accused Of Sexual Assault On Child"

And if you missed the singular for of coach, note also the headline says it was an 'assault on child'. So unless someone thinks that they're all assaulting the same child it makes no sense.
