Zhanna Block has been handed a two-year ban starting from 6 October 2011 for doping violations in 2002-3.

Doesn't say whether her results will be annulled from that time. Of course she was a two-time world champ outdoors before that in 1997 and 2001, she won the 2003 world indoor 60m.

Husband Mark Block is already serving a 10-year ban (as an agent/coach).

Obscure 800 runner Svitlana Chervan has also been banned for what I think is trafficking.

I thought she retired a long time ago, so what's the point of the ban? It's only the possible annulment of past results that's of any interest in this case.

I (surprisingly) haven't seen anything about her officially retiring (even on the UAF site), even though she hasn't had any results since 2006. Stephanie Graf is also currently banned even though she retired even earlier, so there is a precedent. (Graf has not had any results annulled btw, at least not according to Tilastopaja).
The doping offences relate to 2002-3, but like Jones, she was most likely doping before that. Her performances fell off in 2004.

I'm all for bans after an athlete's competitive seasons are over like in this case with Block. It should be part of the narrative of drug cheats that they were once caught - even if we can't take back all of the medals. Why I feel it matters? In 2003, Zhanna Block ran for the women's committee of the IAAF. She wasn't elected. In 2007, Block again ran for a seat on the women's committee of the IAAF. Again, she wasn't elected. And, if not for being under investigation, she probably would have run again in 2011. The sport must do all it can to keep drug cheats out of the sport and that would include the administration of the sport.

Didn't Mercy Nku fail a test at some point. There are reports that she did although she denies it (Can't find an official verification either way) if so that just leaves 2 and the less said about one of them the better.

ok, it is worse than i thought and sort of shocking. also reminds me how much i like dfm and that she should have been on my top 20 list, if even for just this fact alone, lol. but i love her otherwise -- she always has a great attitude, win, place or show.
