Leveling the Playing Field

It seems the results of this past weekend's track and field competitions displayed a more mortal field of athletes versus the previous seasons.(i.e. men's and women's sprint results) Could it be the integrity of the sport is finally being remedied of the crippling rumors echoing from the early 1980's or maybe it's a temporary timeout to protect the positions of key individuals.
