Best Event at the NCAA Indoors

Of course I may be a "little" biased but...

But my opinion is..... Event 22 Women 3000 Meter Run!!!!!

Looking at the names of the declared list and their qualifying times is pretty amazing.

And who's this Abby D girl? A 9:02? Whoa!. Checked out her HS numbers and while good there was nothing there to indicate that she'd be doing this in College.

I'm still pulling for Jordan of course but if someone has what it takes to set an honest even pace every one of those girls could break nine minutes.

The U.S. is looking pretty good for London AND with this group of young runners for Brazil too I'd say.

The trouble with the 3k is it's usually about the 4th event that the top athletes run (after mile heat, dmr, 5k, mile final) so turns into a tactical slog.

Surprised that Florida didn't try to qualify a 4x400 on the last weekend. Guess they don't need it?

The trouble with the 3k is it's usually about the 4th event that the top athletes run (after mile heat, dmr, 5k, mile final) so turns into a tactical slog.

Surprised that Florida didn't try to qualify a 4x400 on the last weekend. Guess they don't need it?

Maybe, maybe not. Holloway (presumably) is weary of the injury issues of Tony Mcquay last year, returning, and is "being fair to him" by not having him run much indoors. He's only logged 2-3 races so far, and has yet to run a 4x4 leg or a 200. Floridas 4x4 PR is like 3:09 this year, they "could" have gone to maybe 3:06-3:05 with Mcquay.. tough spot for the coach, I suppose.

He was supposed to run a leg on the 4x4 at one of Texas A&M's meets, but something happened on the handoff so he never got the baton.

Don't hold me to it, but I've heard he and/or the coaches think the weight is counterproductive to hammer training.

While last year's winning time was a pedestrian 9:13+, the battle between Reid and Hasay made for the most exciting event of the meet. Hoping this year's race is as gripping, despite Reid's decision to red-shirt indoors.
