Re: Kenyan Men's 10K Trials at Pre
Is this part of a Nike promotion? Or, just the Kenyan federation taking leave of there senses? I mean it's great if you're a fan, but didn't I read in TFN one year where something like 30-50 people ran the 10k at Kenyan trials and no one was lapped.

Re: Kenyan Men's 10K Trials at Pre
The article says, "The 10000m event will be only open to Kenyans." That's a shame, as there are already so few 10,000s on the circuit. But it probably doesn't really change things that much. Last year at Pre, 13 of the 19 finishers were Kenyan and five ran sub-27 min., though the best Kenyan finish was third behind Farah and Merga.

Re: Kenyan Men's 10K Trials at Pre
I tried to find an actual listing of events at Pre, but without success. I had presumed that there would be another open 10,000 elsewhere in the program--but now am not sure. Is there a definitive list of this year's full program somewhere?

The chair said selection for Olympics had been made difficult by the large numbers of athletes who have attained the qualification standards for the summer showpiece.
“In marathon we have 278 men who have qualified and 61 women and we only need six. In all other events, we have 201 who have qualified and we need to take only 45. You can see the task ahead of us how to select.

Re: Kenyan Men's 10K Trials at Pre
this said about events in the paper today
<<There will be no admission charge for Friday night’s program.
Besides the men’s 10,000, Jordan said the men’s triple jump, women’s discus and women’s hammer throw will be contested on Friday. Those are all Diamond League events.
Friday night will also include the men’s international mile, which has been won the past two years by Australia’s Ryan Gregson in 3 minutes, 53 seconds. A total of 18 runners broke 4 minutes in those two races.>>
The women's hammer, of course, is NOT a DL event.

Does this mean only the 15 chosen by AK will be in the race, or those 15 will be included in race?
