Merritt will wipe the floor with any NFL player at any distance 60m and above. The 40 yard times recorded ny NFL players are unreliable because they are hand timed.

A more intriguing contest would be Carmelita Jeter or some other top female athlete versus the fastest NFL player over 100m. In my estimation, there are only about 3 or 4 NFL players who are faster than Jeter over 100m

Tuariki, as you know strictly speaking a 400m runner isn't a sprinter really, the quarter mile is it's own event, the likes of Michael Johnson, Henry Carr, and Tommie Smith were exceptions, and even they couldn't drop down to 100m against the top men. The speed endurance and requirements are very different to the 100, and even then specialist 60m will be different, I remember Andre Cason, Maurice Green and even Ben Jonson as 60 and 100 men, who were good but not great at 100m, there are different ends of the spectrum.
Bailey was a 60/100m man, and NFL speedsters are close to the pure 60m men.
I don't think Mr. Merrit could beat an NFL Player over 40 yards or 60 meters.
I don't think any of them could beat him over 150m.

A 400m man is a very very different animal to a 60m man or even an NFL man, I remember Michael Johnson, greatest 200m man at the time dropping to run a 150m against the 100m champ Bailey and that was salutary !

I'm sure some NFL guys could give him a good contest over 60m.

Merritt aims to become the first person to run times of 43 seconds, 19 seconds and sub-10 seconds in the 400m, 200m and 100m events respectively.
I would imagine that Merrit has a reasonable chance to achieve this as he will not be hindered, and therefore slowed down, by an overgrown appendage that does nothing for his outer leg speed, given that his chemically assisted attempts to grow that appendage failed.

    That's not nice.
