  • national HS discus leader

Sam Mattis (East Brunswick, NJ) has raised his yearly lead to 218-4. That makes him No. 5 on the all-time list.

    No idea about wind conditions.

He threw 211-11 at the Penn Relays recently as well. It's not often you see a big prep thrower going to an Ivy League school - I believe he's heading to Penn next year.

How about local kid Mack Tudor(Western Brown, Mount Orab)? At 62' 3 1/4" / 206' 4", Tudor is going to - wait for it - Tiffin University next year, a small, Division II school in North-central Ohio.

Worth noting - Tudor's discus PR coming into the season was 178' 7", and has steadily improved to last week's new Ohio all-division state record of 206' 4", with still a month to go until state

Along with Tiffin, d2 Findlay has a Derrick Vicars at 61', 182', 216' hammer, and Ashland has tons of great throwers, in North-Central Ohio.
