    Re: Shanghai DL—JT m

Interesting to see how Pitkämäki and Thorkildsen open. Thorkildsen has to be the big favourite but his openers have been somewhat shaky at times. Will Železný's coaching help Pitkämäki return to the top? He's reportedly in OK shape and his official target is meeting the 85.33 from last year...

I'm sure De Zordo will do better than on Wednesday but I doubt he'll win. Veselý has the best SB of the lot but that's not saying much... yet the solid 82 thrower he somehow transformed into last year might end up surprisingly high. Frydrych is as always a total question mark...

Round 1 over, de Zordo leading with 81.62. Horrible first throws for both Pitkämäki and Thorkildsen...

So the prediction about de Zordo doing better than in Daegu was right, but at this rate he might end up winning

In these conditions, wow. Now with downpour it will probably win.

Re: Shanghai DL—JT m: Vítezslav Vesely 85.40 SB

I did say Veselý might end up surprisingly high, but I didn't expect 85.40 and 1st place Behind him the competition was pretty lame... hopefully it was just the rain, but I'm not quite sure it explains everything :?

Thorkildsen was apparently afraid of injuring himself, saying it wasn't worth risking the whole summer for one meet (he skipped his last three throws).

First javelin formchart of the year (including Shanghai and Halle)... still waiting for the Latvians to open.
