I always thought Beach would be more successful immediately at 800m or 400h anyway. The Dec was going to take more time for him to build his other events.

But his Hept mark would have been second at the world indoors, and there is no way he would be close to that result in the 800.

In 5 more years I fully expect women's PV to look like wTJ with zero to one American qualifying for the event (you can already see how few Americans qualify when Americans used to worry about if they could go 1-2-3).

You sound like you're talking about MPV (where we only have 4 A standard athletes) rather than women's. We have 8 women with A standard, and I expect at least one or two more to hit it before Trials. So far 33 women with 4.30+ within the qualifying period and NCAA finals will likely add to that list, not to mention the plethora of PV only qualifying meets going on right now.

Jenn is the only WPVer that has a real shot at a gold medal, (probably any medal), but there are several young rising stars with potential.

USA MPV's future is looking a little brighter than it has been with young stars like Andrew Irwin (who has a VERY legit shot at making the team) and Jack Whitt (injury has held him back this year) and Tommy Skipper is attempting a comeback so you never know. Brad is slowly starting to jump better in real meets and he should have at least several good years ahead of him as well. There are some young guys who have jumped 5.70+ in the past who have potential as well (Roth, Colwick, Jordan Scott).

And in the MPV there are several NCAA sophs and frosh and HS'ers just around 18 ft also. So seems not that bad really.
