You can't tell anything from that video . . . if his groin and other parts hold up, he should make the team, but an Oly medal, at this point of his career, is a stretch. I'd LOVE it though!!!

I believe the video shown was taken back in late-March.

I love Tyson Gay...puts it all out(a contributing factor to his numerous injuries) and does it the right way with honor and no b.s.

If he can regain his health he'll surely be on the podium later this summer in London.

Surely, he'll need to run on the DL circuit before you can make such a prediction....

Has he confirmed his participation at any of those DL meets yet?

Prediction: Tyson will be ready. He'll break the American Record this year so long as he gets good race conditions. If he's totally healthy, he'll challenge Bolt and be on the podium.

Don't be shocked if he opens his season with something ridiculous like a 9.80.

I could not disagree with you more...

An experienced internationalist, former AOY and multiple number 1 ranked/world's fastest sprinter who would be the world record holder but not for Mr. Bolt, If I were Gay's coach I'd take the chance and skip the DL, only allowing him to do a couple of minor meet until the OT's.

Other than his fitness, he has nothing to prove.

Well, he's now confirmed his participation at New York, so there's obvious something in the theory of getting competition on the DL circuit before the Olympic trials.

That said, it is the B race...but it will help us to see what kind of shape he's in.

Notable in the release is that it states Tyson is training in Dallas now with Jon Drummond. So has Gatlin seen much as another recent article said he has of his training on same track in Clermont since the release also states Tyson has only been on the track training about 3 weeks.

Clarification: Tyson goes back and forth between Florida and Texas. He does the bulk of his general training in FL (with Lance Bauman); he does some of his technical and sharpening work in Texas (with Jon Drumond). When they mentioned "3 weeks of sprint training" most likely it just means he's only be doing 3 weeks of high intensity speed/technical work. he's been doing build up training for months and months. he's probably supremely fit in terms of base work and strength, even basic technique; the challenge for him now will be to get sharper, refine technique, get the speed work in --- i.e. get "race ready".

I have wondered, over the years, if such an approach (doing actual speed work or speed development later in the training year rather than developing a tolerance for the velocities and ranges of motion unique to max. velocity sprinting in earlier training) is the one of the very reasons he has been, seemingly, injured so much in recent years. That and going back and forth between coaches. Even with good communication between two coaches, that could cause training issues as each might have his own idea/philosophy on what Tyson needs at any one time.
