Sub 13 at last for Rupp. He got a huge cheer from the home crowd. Thought there'd be a little more love for that on this thread?

Sub-13 is nice, but he is still behind Ritz, Teg and Solinsky, let alone Lagat. :wink:

Joking aside, finishing 3rd in this field was probably more important than the PR. Based on what I saw last night and Hengelo last week, I think Rupp is a legitimate medal contender in 10K. He can probably also finish in top 8 in 5000m.

About 4:05 last 1600 for the three leaders.
Kenny seems to have lost his top gear! Should still be able to medal at 10k.

Best American combination fo for 1500, 3000, 5000, 10,000 [only competition would be if Lagat ran a fast 10,000, but he is ahead of Teg and Solinsky now.. Second with sub-13 and sub-27 marks and his 26:48.0 implies that he has the better of the two.

Rupp first American ever to break 13:00 on U.S. soil. Clearly got the biggest hand of the day (in general).

While acknowledging the obvious -- Kenya and Ethiopia are the behemoths of the distance running world -- as a USA distance running fan, I think it's pretty cool that Rupp's 12:58.90 ranks him at only the #6 performer and #10 performance all-time. It's a pretty good all-time list.

Agree -- I really appreciate and enjoy his approach to racing.

It was a bit strange - though kinda predictable - being here on the boards during the meet (I was watching on livestream too).

Early on with the women's chase and 3000 probably being the standout events, nobody here was interested in talking about em but rather posting comments only on (you guessed it!) the sprints.

There were no US athletes starring in the women's distances, but even so...
