Notice Albert Rop in 10th place? Note the "SB". This kid ran 13:03.70 for 6th at Van Damme last year, about three months BEFORE HIS 17TH BIRTHDAY!!He's about 8 1/2 years younger than Rupp. Good grief!

It is hard for me to believe that someone who now has run 3:34, 12:59, 26:48 could be considered in over his head by any stretch. With those times, on any given day, he should be mixing it up with the very best. Kudos from him for not being afraid to go for it. He is now clearly the cream of the US distance crop and we can only hope he continues to improve. It won't take much more improvement from him for him to be a legitimate medal favorite.

Just thought I would ay well done to Farah, the winner, as the posters on this board seem to have limited their comments almost entirely to talk about Rupp who is not actually winning much despite his excellent range of times.

a bit windy and a little up and down pace, but great "hoover" race none the less.

rupp and mo are ready - good job al-sal
bekele is progressing back very very well.

if bekele wins his next outing in a good time with a good field, of course you can consider him back and a threat at gold, though farah looks to be in 12"4x shape and its going to take a very fit bekele to beat that, as bekele has only broken 12"48 a couple of times period.

so it is still moe for gold at 5 and 10k.
          rupp 3-5 place in both.
          bekele 1-5 place in both
another kenyan 2-5 place in both
another ethopian 3-5 place in both

It seems to me unlikely that K Bekele will attempt to double in London. Ethiopia has plenty of other potential medalists/top six guys. It's too bad there's no bye in Oly, so he could enter both without pushing someone else off the team; then he could just decide after the 10K whether he felt like running the 5.
