  • Indiana Boys' State

Only one superstar around this year, who of course is Indy North Central's Futsum Zienasellassie, who won his 4th title in the 3200 in 8:51, breaking Rudy Chapa's 37 year old meet record. As he ripped 62 second last lap, the entire stadium gave him a standing ovation as he closed a fabulous HS career.

One interesting note... Kyle Johnston won the Pole Vault as did his father in 1982, and his grandfather in the 50's. After normal medal ceremony they got the 3 Johnstons up on the top step for a photo... a nice moment.

Some stellar performances on the girls side in michigan.

Hannah Meier 4x800 8:48.3 (2:08 split) state record, 1600 4:43.05, 800 2:08.57 (both events she has the state record from last year 4:42 & 2:07, seemed windy yesterday) 4x400 3:53.9 1st (don't know split) as her school won Division 1 champs over Ann Arbor who had Ofili's sister. She had an impressive day herself

    Cindy Ofili won 3 individual events 100 11.97, 100H 13.78 & 300H 45.02 and was on the winning 4x200 1:41.1

Not to mention Finn's state record 3200 10:17.86

    and how about Division 3's Sami Michell - 4 individual wins with one all-division state record 300H 42.23, LJ 18'6, 100H 13.84 & 200 25.28

    Division 2 had Ali Wiersma run 4:53 (2nd) and 10:40 (1st)

    Just some of the highlights.
