Here's hoping Ritz will finish in the top 3 and go below 27:45. Since that is a time Galen Rupp can run in his sleep, it would make sense for Rupp to take it out in a 13:50 or so 5k, much as Ryan Hall made the pace honest at the OT marathon. That way, Ritz can draft along and then worry about the racing in the last 2k or so. If what he (Ritz) says in his blogs is true, the USA would have two guys in the mix at the Olympics. Wouldn't that be nice?!

27:38 winning time with Rupp first and then Ritz right behind him under the 27:45 time...and third up for grabs betwen Teg, and Derrick.

Front-page article about Bobby Curtis has him saying he's in great shape.

I like Teg for 3rd, he is bringing 8:07-12:58 to the 10k table, that is stout!

When's the last time evidence of those tools surfaced? It's been a while.

in a Twitter exchange with Solinsky this morning, he agrees with me that the inclement weather should be "perfect" for 10K running.

                Teg's bests are impressive...

                3:34.25 (2007)
                7:34.98 (2006)
                8:07.07 (2007)
                12:58.56 (2009)

...but on the other hand are also not recent, by 3-6 years.

On the third hand, he has made the OG or WC team in 5k or 10k for the last 4 championships, in 07, 08 09, 11, so he has excellent experience in succeeding at nat'l meet to qualify for WC/OG.

And on the fourth hand, I have no idea what sort of shape he's in now.

I'll pick Bobby Curtis and Ryan Vail to fight for third spot. Think Rupp and Ritz will run away with it.

Yeah, I thinkthe main drama in the race will be whether Ritz can get the sub 27:45 and who ends up third.

If it's a fast pace, Curtis will be right with Ritz and Rupp.

Seriously too bad that he isn't healthy and ready to run that race. I would have loved to see the US bring two guys under 27 minutes to London.

5K in 13:56, now need 13:49 for the A standard.

Pace picking up now. Vaughn moves into contention. After his great 5K at Payton Jordan what, three or four years ago, I thought he'd be one of our top 5K/10K guys by now.

Teg looking comfortable and moving up.

Good pace but right now only ritz has an incentive to keep this up
