    We've seen it time and again...athletes that are committed to an NCAA season have a tough time peaking right for the big international meets. It often boils down to one seemingly inescapable fact: the season is too long.

    From Charles Jock to the 2 BYU lady 800m runners (Both had run recent 2:01 times and both ran 3 seconds slower in the OT prelim.) and many other examples, it keeps happening.

    No wonder so many, when able to turn pro, feel a sense of relief and deliverance.

    In the meantime, the NCAA athletes are at a disadvantage unless they have a coach who has the vision that allows him/her to sacrifice team points for a more long term and international level perspective.
