Ralph Doubell of Australia ran 1:44.3 to equal Snell's record a the '68 Olympics.

John Walker perhaps had it in him, but that's been a long time ago.

Jeff Riseley got close last year, running 1.44.6 in Rieti. He's been selected in the Aussie team for London in both the 800 and 1500 but may just run the latter.

This year, I believe Riseley is more likely to run just the former.
