Susanna Kallur postponed her comeback several times this year and she is still not fit, therefore missing the Olympics. Carolina Klüft is injured and has to show her fitness at a meeting in Finland in 2 weeks, otherwise she won't compete in London either.

What event is Kluft competing in? The long jump? Does she have the A standard? Does anyone else have the A or B standard? Why wouldn't Sweden send her if she's the only one with a standard?

She has A from last year and she is nominated for OG long time ago.
Swedish national T&F coach Stefan Olsson last Sunday also nominated Philip Nossmy (110mH) and Mattias Jons (HT), but Swedish Olympic Committee rejected their nominations ("they are not good enough").
Bengtsson improved her outdoor world Junior record the other day. She'll still need to improve significantly if she wants to medal this year, but should count as "up and comer".
Not that Kuft, Kallur, Holmes, Olsson are easily replaced.
Sweden is going through a period where there are no superstars and no chance for an Olympic medal.
I think Kluft has jumped slightly over 6.20 (20feet) this season. I can't believe they are sending her to London. Kallur has had or will have more surgeries. She is 31 now and I think she is done. Echoes of Christian Olsson I'm afraid.
Men's HJ has definitely hit rock bottom. After Thornblad retired they have one jumper at 2.16 (7-1) this season. 3 guys over 2.10!
They have some promising Younger athlete like Angelica Bengtsson, Moa Hjelmer who won the Euro 400, Swedish record, 51.13 (She might have a shot at a semi final in London)
They also have LJer Torneus, 8.17 (26-9 3/4).
Women's HJ, Emma Green-Tregaro and Jungmark seem stuck at 1.92 this year but they are potential finalists. I like their young Javelin thrower Kim Amb (Good short name, almost Ed Red class )
Countries like Sweden and Norway often go through these cycles and right now Norway actually has more world class names.
Saturday: Malin Dahlström vaulted 4.50 in Germany; Mattias Jons set a hammer PB (76.12) in Spain in his 3rd competition this week; Alhaji Jeng cleared 5.72 in the vault at Heusden-Zolder; Nadja Casadei confirmed on Facebook that she's now just 3cm from her mum's long jump record, now having jumped 6.30 in the LJ at the World Youth Games.

Inget OS/ No Olympics for me.......and Mattias Jons and Philip Nossmy, funny that you can have a A standard, perform in good meets to show that you have a chance to finish in the top 8 and be the best in your country and still not go to the Olympics.

yes, this does seem messed up. why do certain countries do this? it's counterproductive. Nossmy, for example, made the final at Euro Champs and has made the A standard. one would think he's made a pretty strong case to go. he's certainly demonstrated he can compete on a big stage, had reasonable shot at the semifinals, and can make a respectable showing. wouldn't it be good for Swedish kids to see Nossmy competing in London?
too bad Sweden has had so many injuries. a real shame about Kallur. she was fantastic; one of the best in world when healthy.
Last year's World Youth runner up (54.62) in the javelin, Sofi Flinck captured the World Junior Championship gold on Tuesday, casting a world junior leading 61.40m. Flinck set our national record (junior/senior) and improved to #8 all-time on the junior list with her final throw.

Had she done it 3 days earlier, she would have qualified for London as well
I was really sad to see Kluft abandon the Hept at the height of her game!!
I think it was a HUGE mistake to opt for a single event!!
Do Swedes think the same??
If I were her coach, I'd urge her to make one more go at the Hept, and forget the individual LJ!!
Or retire!!
She WAS a great athlete!!
