  • When London ends, when can I watch the best compete?

I am new to the sport and I love watching it and supporting it....I am extremely interested in following it beyond the Olympics but, I have search the net and found nothing on any sort of schedule where the top sprinters compete and when.

My question basically is: How do I find out where and when guys like, Gay,Bolt,Gatlin and, Blake will be racing? .......I assume that some die hard fan on here could help point a novice like
    myself in the right direction.

    Thanks to those that answer.

If you see a blue diamond next to a meet, it'll probably have many of the major stars.

Have you subscribed to the print Track and Field News? If not, maybe do so to help editor gh (his handle here) and the rest of the crew keep fighting the good fight, as this website depends, for now, on the continued existence of the magazine.

Let me second that. Having digital, print and combination options is very cool.

What a heartwarming post. Rejoice track and field has gained a new fan. Just curious newfan what specific events sparked your interest? If you frequent the message boards you will be up to date with upcoming events and/or the results/links to races.

You mentioned some sprinters. On a bit a of a depressing note, these days the top sprinters tend to duck each other and compete head-to-head very rarely, outside of the OG or the World Championships (held in every odd-numbered year, Moscow 2013, Beijing 2015, London 2017). In 1975, when men were men, the world's top sprinters, Steve Williams and Don Quarrie, met 8 times in the 100, splitting 4-4 (and ranking 2-1). In the 200 they met 9 times, Q winning 5-4. And 1-2 there. So overall they met 17 times (!!!!!!!!!). The men's shot putters and 110m hurdlers seem to go at each other ten times a year.

There are some great track and field links out there, plus the TAFNEWS website we're on has a lot of useful stats in the "lists", "records", and "archives" sections.

Stockholm site has entry lists up already, probably subject to some adjustments with it so close to the OG.

Probably only slightly, most athletes rush to the meet that is the week after Olympics/WC ends.
I would assume since they are closest to being at their best.

Pearson also not listed though she said after her Olympic win that her next race would be in Stockholm.

All of the Diamond League Meets will be on cbc.ca/sports, free of charge, British commentary, available in the USA. At least that's how it was before the Games. Also CBC has won back the Canadian rights for upcoming Olympics, and they tend to just put their product out there, without charging (damned Socialists), unlike CTV.
