Maybe he'll be the first officially fully recorded case of Spontaneous Combustion in the world. Scientists from all over will flock down to the site of his ash pile 40m down the curve and huddle 'round looking over the remains, pulling out all sorts of advanced technical gadgets and devices. After a few hours of arguing, debating, testing, re-testing, weird humming noises, and bubbling beakers, they'll turn around and face the cameras and explain their findings to us:
"Ladies and gentlemen, we are deeply saddened to inform you that Tyson Gay has indeed spontaneously combusted. The first officially documented case ever recorded on HD video. It appears that he simply had too many long-lingering injuries accumulated over the past 4 years, an amount that should've caused any normal human with normal human pain-tolerance levels to retire from the sport 6 times over. Tyson, however, simply had too much willpower for his own good. Our findings indicate that he was wincing so hard from the excruciating pain of 4 different ligaments in his body being badly damaged, whilst still trying to hold it together in spite of it and make his way around the curve at world record pace, that he exerted more than 18 quadrillion pounds per square inch of pressure between his jaws, inadvertently turning some carbon-based organic residue from his breakfast into diamonds, but then squishing even those diamonds so ferociously in his clenches jaws that he created a new form of matter not previously known to have existed anywhere in the universe. This unknown matter appears to have been hotter than the center of the sun, and thusly spontaneously cremated him within one trillionth of a second of the exoto-matter being created between his jaws. Runners in either of the two lanes beside him suffered 2nd degree burns just from the infrared radiation of the flash as he went up in smoke, but they are expected to make a full recovery. He was a good man. May he rest in peace."
Just kidding.
Seriously tho this dude must have pain tolerance levels off the fucking charts. He seems to have more injury problems than the rest of the people in his race combined, yet he just keeps on trucking through it. They call Yohan "the beast" but imo it is Tyson who is truly THE BEAST!
Good luck to Tyson!!! I rooting for him bigtime!

Good for him.Tyson is 30 years old(8 years older than Blake) and thus, he is winding down his track career. Grab as much or as little money as he can get before it dries up

IAAF Scoring Tables give his 9.88 1248 points, the same for a 19.82 200m. Assuming he holds together, conditions are good and the distance gives him a little more room to get things right, perhaps 19.79? That still seems crazy fast to me.

Re: Tyson Gay running the 200m in diamond league Birmingham
In Lusanne he actually ran 9.83, though I could have sworn the original result was 9.88. Per IAAF that equates to 19.71-19.73. Still seems cracking quick to me. For what I think is his first 200m of the season, anything sub 20 and healthy would be ok.
1 BLAKE Yohan JAM 9.69 MR, PB 0.142
2 GAY Tyson USA 9.83 0.154
3 CARTER Nesta JAM 9.95 =SB 0.154
4 BAILEY Ryan USA 10.00 0.173
5 VICAUT Jimmy FRA 10.02 PB 0.156
6 SAIDY NDURE Jaysuma NOR 10.13 =SB 0.129
7 BLEDMAN Keston TRI 10.14 0.148
8 THOMPSON Richard TRI 10.32 0.167

Re: Tyson Gay running the 200m in diamond league Birmingham
based on Tyson's 100 meter training focus this year, and that this is his first 200 of the season, I'd say anything sub 20.20 would be solid.
also depends on conditions, of course.
anything low 20s would be respectable.
though, with Tyson being in 9.80 shape, perhaps he can technique and gut his way to a sub 20.0.
I really think he's got 2-3 high quality years left in him. don't think this guy is done yet. if the surgery was as successful as it appears, hopefully he'll be setup to put in proper fall winter training and come out with a huge year in 2013.
betting good money he wants at least one more World Championships medal - and a crack at the USA 200 meter record if his body can handle the curve.
best of of luck to Tyson. this guy is a warrior.
