Good. Don't want to see one of our up and coming stars suffering a major setback from injury.

He is, as are Greene, Montgomery and Boldon. What do they have in common? A preposition. All will be AT Pre, but not IN Pre. Talk about hypothetical relay teams that could beat any other on the planet. Ever.

(Fortunately, all the Pre fields--including the 100 still--are so good that the meet remains can't-miss.)

              thanks gary for the news.
sometimes competing in so many early season meets has its dangers, being injured and missing the trials and/or world champs being the biggest.
maybe it is best for gatlin to run a couple of low key races before the trials because he might be running 6 races there in just 3 days. i still think he is better at 200, but could surprise everyday in the 100. he beat collins by a yard in the world indoor and now collins is dominating the other sprinters. i think there is a long way to go, three long months to be exact. by then monty and greene might find their form and collins and the other might be off, who knows !
however, if everything goes well for gatlin he could make the team in both events then decide which one or two events he wants to compete in the worlds.

The key word is "could." "Could" is one thing--"would" is another. Would they beat any other hypothetical team ever? Maybe so, but they'd have their hands full with Bailey, Burrell, Lewis, and Hayes? (And if you don't like Bailey running the curve, use Mitchell, Calvin Smith, or Marsh.)

Or perhaps a better idea. Pull Burrell, let Bailey run leg 2 and have Mitchell, Smith, or Marsh lead off.

Of course one small problem with that group is that guys like Lewis and Bailey probably never passed a baton in their lives. They were always anchor.
