I HATED the "posing' in 00 OG , BUT shoes on fire bit was magic . OLD SATCH just about croaked and for a split second thought cats brogans were really burning!

I thought it was very tastefully done.

And it has not occurred to anyone here that this was just a PR gimmick orchestrated by adidas, which happened to be one of the sponsors of the meet.

C'mon, cynic. Even if it was an adidas stunt, so what? It was still entertaining, and everyone (except you maybe) got a good giggle out of it. If you think there's something wrong with track being fun, maybe you should find another sport to be cynical about. I'm sure there are some good candidates.

I hope it was am adidas stunt. Someone should be trying to get track out of the doldrums. It may seem silly to some, but have you seen an NFL game lately?

It was a nice stunt, but!
The 100 m wasn't the last event of the day.
Hopefully the residue didn't remain on the track.
The winning 4 x 100 sprayed slilly string on the track at the 1998 Goodwill Games...it wasn't the last event either It was all over the finish line area. They didn't care, they already ran their event! No class.

It was hilarious and a moment that will be remembered for many years. T&F needs more zip and glitter like that. Now if we can just get one of the track hotties to do a little strip tease after winning....talk about needing a fire extinguisher!!

Just another distasteful display by the sprinters again. You would never see a middle distance or distance runner pulling that kind of crap. The TV presentation would have done the world a favour by cutting the last 15 minutes off.

Haven't you heard, at the Trials Adidas will be coming out with their new "Mo Burn" model with stylistic flames on the side, and a built-in mini-extinguisher in the sole.
Reminiscent of the 'pump' basketball shoe a few years back, made famous in the NBA All-Star Game Slam-Dunk contest when a height-challenged competitor stopped to 'pump up' the tongue of the shoe', as if to give him more spring. He said it wasn't suggested by the shoe company, he thought of it just then, but you know they must have rewarded him big time for that comedic display on national television.
I wonder if you can get a "Mo Burn" pair of spikes through carry-on security at the Airport?
