Kim Duncan ran 22.88 to lead the prelims. She seems quieter this year outdoors so I wonder if they are planning an attack on the US trials?

Anyone know whats been up with Tavaris Tate? It just seems as if since his 44.8 as a freshman he has literally slowly been making a backwards progression. Has it been injury?

Depsite the fact that it will feature the world leader, the women's 800 won't be as fast as some might have expected since Charlene Lipsey and Natoya Goule are both doing the 1500/800 double tomorrow. Also, Georgia freshman Shaunae Miller looked scary good in the 400 heats today, and I think we're going to be hearing her name a lot in the future. Arkansas senior Regina George is going to have her hands full tomorrow.

Ditto for Aldrich Bailey Jr. at A&M - I don't believe he's shown any of his prep form, indoors or out so far this year?

Well not so much ditto. Baliey is transitioning from being a prep. And yes there are a plethora of preps who keep improving as freshman, and its funny that Baliey was killing Glass and Hall last year yet they are making major strides at Florida now. But I think Baliey has a stronger argument as to why he has been "sub par" this year.

Tate on the other hand has literally gone backwards. Since running 44.8 and 20.7 as a freshman, he has slowly declined, and at this point in the season he has barely broke 47 and has not broken 21. I want to suspect it is injury, but I have no idea. Watching him run mid 48 here was very disappointing.

For a disappointing freshman year, how about Brandon McBride, the fastest high school half miler ever in North America? 51 weeks ago he ran 1:47 and beat Nick Willis. On Friday he ran 1:50 and didn't qualify to the final. One knowledgeable friend of mine opined that "Mississippi State is where talent goes to die".

                    Re: SEC outdoor champs

As one who lived through it, all I can say is that the transition from HS athlete to college isn't a slam-dunk natural progression. Reversion, unfortunately, comes easily. And there's not a damned thing you can do about it. (well, at least, I couldn't)

                      Re: SEC outdoor champs

Going in to the final day, men's scores are Ark-57, FL-47,TxAM-37.
                      # of qualifers for running event finals are Ark-7, FL-7 ,TxAM-10.
Ark has a 20 pt. lead, but TxAM has most qualifiers. These three teams go head-to-head in every running event, except 1500 and 100. Their relay teams are evenly matched also. Should be a great final day, if weather cooperates. First three days have had high winds, and low temperatures.

Regarding injuries, anyone know if Ashley Collier is injured? She DNS in the 100 prelims.

                          SEC Women capsule-
Scores going into final day -
                          Ark-50, GA-49, LSU-31, FL-26, TxAM-25
                          Qualifers for running event finals-Ark-7, GA-4,LSU-10, FL-7, TxAM-10
Ark has 20-25 pt. lead, but LSU and TxAM have most potential pts on the track today.
GA doesn't have enough qualifers, but other 4 should battle it out.
