  • Clermont meet: Ashmeade 9.91(100m), Tyson 19.7(200m)

Ashmeade ran 9.91 in the 100m heats in Clermont today. Tyson is expected to run in another heat.

Ashmeade has decided to forgo the finals later today.
He is gunning for a spot on our 200m, 4 x 100m team. He is very serious this year after a disappointing performance at our trials last year.

Pardon my ignorance, but where is Clermont?
And why is this meet attracting World Class runners??
What other events have top name athletes?
Also, do you know the wind for Ashmeade's run?
Great time (for a heat, no less!!), if it's legal!

      Florida.

Thought to be similar to Rieti in terms of random fast 100m times that are sometimes not replicated anywhere else.

Clermont is a local track in Florida. It is the training base for coach Lance Baumann who trains both Tyson and Ashmeade.

Who has run fast times at Clermont that they have not backed up elsewhere?

If i remember correctly, Shalonda Solomon ran a 10.90 there and that is still her only time below 11 seconds. Her next best is 11.05 or so.

It's in an Orlando suburb and has a unique set-up. It's a sprint-friendly track (fairly 'stiff'), set down in a 'bowl' that tends to keep the heat it, so it's always nice and warm. Meets there are in a very relaxed atmosphere, fan sit around the track. There's nothing funky about the timing or calibration of the facility; it's just a good place to run fast.

Sorry to change the subject but Curtis Mitchell tweeted that Tyson gay ran 19.7 in a meet today, but didn't give the meet anyone know what meet that might back...

I guess he decided to run the 200m at this meet instead.

A few tweets earlier Mitchell mentions running in Clermont today. This is getting interesting, they have really fast men there but no live results or any kind of results page?

Yea i don't slander either place, just noting what has been though of and said about the races at the tracks.
A time time will always be a time regardless of what people speculate. (Fl Jo's record being the only exception)
