  • NCAA Regionals Day 1

I am not sure if this is the right degree of disaggregation.

The Long Jump could provide the first real result of impact, as Dendy has two fouls.

He got a fair jump in but it was only 7.31 making it at best the 12th best mark. It looks like he will end up in the top 16 and get three more jumps. He sits 13th with only a few that could knock him back.

[Just changed this to both regionals, since the two sets of events can also be more readily compared.]

Dendy sneaks into the final with only 4 inches to spare.

And in the West Regional with similar wind the first two (lowest ranked) flights already have eight that exceed 7.31. This kind of pressure might be good for him if he makes it through.

I'm watching the West Regional, but can't find a link to the East webcast. Can anyone help?
Dendy not having his best day, but apparently the winds have been tricky varying from +2.5 to -.5 on his first three attempts.

I don't think there is a webcast for the east, which is a flipping travesty.

Re: NCAA East Regional Day 1

Just like last year, the results out of the East are excellent, showing each individual attempt in the field events. Meanwhile, the West results are showing no results at all, despite being in later flights in both the MDT and MLJ. And now we're just getting a blank screen on the webcast, despite three events going on. Grrrr!

Oh, and to make it worse, the link on the UT website for live results takes one to the 2012 results, just at the T&F News link does.

I believe you're right. He never improved on his jump from the prelims and finished 13th.

He's definitely gone. Based on Auka's projections, this takes FL out of the race for 2nd with AR and OR. What's a further shock is that a #82 NCAA seed (Korbin Smith from Ohio State) finished ahead of him.

Do you have to pay....or sign up anywhere....to watch? (The West, I mean!)
All I'm getting is the blue screen with "NCAA Regionals" on it!!
                    No audio either!

Nope, it's free. That blue screen has been showing up a lot. Wait until 4:30 Central time and they'll show a lot more live stuff since that's when the running events start. The only commentary you get now is the rare stadium announcer comment, but I'm guessing they'll have some real announcers once the track events start....though it was sporadic last year.

In the West you do get the incremental, unofficial, results. I get them by clicking on the individual event NOT on the Latest Heat or Latest Event.

I quick look at the LJ preliminaries - Dendy would have been no higher than 26th.

Meanwhile, Wruck is wrecking the Discus standings at 63.95, and my hope (Danny Block, WI) barely managed to get three more, with a 54.74 15th place.

Thanks. Much better than nothing, though still far behind what they're doing in the East. And they're still miles behind in the WHT the final of which is about to commence, yet there are zero stats for the first three throws in the 3rd flight. Oh well, at least we can watch, though watching the long throws with no announcers leaves one wondering if a throw was 100 feet or 250 feet.

I do not understand your comparison. The West WHT is on Thursday, the East has it on Friday. Are you saying that their entry marks are much better? The West is uniformly better in the top flight. ANd there is a >70m mark in the prelims while PR in the East is 68m

I wasn't comparing the Hammer throws, I was comparing the online results delivery and only stating that the E Regional results are being displayed much quicker and in a much more readable form than those from the W Regional.
