    Re: Wow, NCAA West Regionals...

oh and by the way, nice use of exaggerations to make your point seem more valid. It would never take a 20.3 to make it in the 200, come on now.

exaggerations are necessary at times in order to counter the wild, general assertions such as those that claim the MW regional is the worse region......

        Re: Wow, NCAA West Regionals...

Events in which then Midwest region appears noticeably better:

        Men

        100
        200
        800
        110 H
        HJ
        PV
        LJ
        DT
        HT

        Women

        100
        200
        400
        LJ
        TJ

Events in which the West region appears noticeably better:

        Men

        1500
        3000 SC
        5000

        Women

        800
        1500
        3000 SC
        5000
        400 H
        HT

Events in which one region or the other is somewhat better, or the two regions are close to equal:

        Men

        400
        400 H
        4x100
        4x400
        TJ
        SP
        JT

        Women

        100 H
        4x100
        4x400
        HJ
        PV
        SP
        DT
        JT

In a few events one region or the other is completely dominant, such as the West in the men's 1500 and 3000 SC, and the women's 1500, 3000 SC and 5000; and the Midwest in the men's discus throw and women's long jump.

In men's track, other than the West dominance in the 1500 and 3000 SC, the Midwest is much better across the range of other events. In women's track, other than the running distances above 800 the Midwest is significantly better. This is reflected by more events in which the Midwest has an edge, and the number of events in which the West may have an edge while the Midwest has one top performer.

Anyone may chose to disagree with this assessment. If so, you are welcome to do your own math.
