  • CanAm Circuit Takes Break in 2003; Alternative High Performa

Due to irreconcilable scheduling conflicts, the CanAm High Performance Distance Circuit will be on hiatus for the 2003 season.

However, eastern Canada and the northeastern U.S will still provide six excellent high performance opportunities during the traditional CanAm circuit timespan of late June/early July.

    These events include:

    June 25
Ottawa Lions Twilite -- Ottawa, Ontario

    June 28
Boston High Performance #5 -- Waltham, Mass

    June 29
Aileen Meagher International Track Classic -- Halifax, Nova Scotia

    July 1
Boston High Performance #6 -- Waltham, Mass

    July 5
New Balance Maine Distance Festival -- Brunswick, Maine

    July 8
New Hampshire High Performance -- Durham, New Hampshire

Please check out the CanAm Circuit webpage at:

for links to meet information and results.

The organizers are working now to ensure the return of the CanAm High Performance Distance Circuit for the 2004 season.

For those not looking to travel to the New England area, the Long Island Summer Series offers a great opportunity to race. This year's series starts July 3rd and continues every Thursday night until August 14th. Meets start at 7pm. The first 2 are at Mitchel Athletic Complex, site of the 1998 Goodwill Games and the 4x400 World Record. Full details will be online soon at http://www.litf.org.

The fields are starting to come together at these North American, post-USATF meets. The Maine Distance Festival will feature an attempt by Regina Jacobs to take down the outdoor 1500 AR.

The new meet at UNH on July seems to be generating a lot of interest.
