Re: Kazan Universiade 6/7- 17/7 strong RUS team

Chernova has extend her lead to 300 pts after 5 events. Her 200 was a little off but she still sneaked under 24. Her LJ was at the level it has been in majors in recent years; 6.48. Solid running and jumping has seen Ikauniece now move into second place, while Savitskaya continues to disappoint. Zsivoczky-Farkas has been doing well and is still in the top 3:

    1 CHERNOVA Tatiana RUS - 4862
    13.63/ 1.86/ 13.92/ 23.93/ 6.48

    2 KAUNIECE Laura LAT - 4582
    13.85/ 1.80/ 12.88/ 24.08/ 6.20

    3 ZSIVOCZKY-FARKAS Gyorgyi HUN - 4563
    13.97/ 1.83/ 13.60/ 25.43/ 6.32

    4 KLUCINOVA Eliska CZE - 4534
    14.12/ 1.86/ 13.57/ 24.71/ 5.97

    5 SAVITSKAIA Kristina RUS - 4530
    13.97/ 1.77/ 14.42/ 25.12/ 6.19

Chernova is comfortably on for a WL; if she throws 46m and runs a sub 2:12 she can score 6600pts. 50m and a 2:11 and she is creeping towards 6700.

It's going to be a great battle for second and third with 50 pts separating the next 4 who are all 46m+ JThrowers. As Decfan often points out, 800m PBs dont always reflect ability because of placings, how near they are to medals and big scores etc, but none of the women are 'slow' in that event either.

Farkas has been setting PBs or been near to them throughout the meet. She is a 47m JThrower and her 800m PB is 2:14.

Ikauniece set PBs in the SP and 200m and of course can throw over 53m in the JT. Her 800m PB is just outside 2:12. A 51 and 2:13 will see her very near her PB of 6414.

Klucinova can also throw over 50m and did 49.99 in Gotzis. Her 800 level has been around 2:16 for the last couple of seasons but her PB is is under 2:13

Savitskaya, most definitely the disappointment of the event for me, can throw near 47m and run 2:12.

At this point and on current form you would expect Ikauniece to secure silver, with Klucinova probably edging Farkas for bronze, but that battle will be close.
