To run 42.00 you'd have to come through the 200m in 20flat to 20.4 and then keep it going for at least a 22.00 to 21.60...not going to happen any time soon and maybe never.
the real question is when does the freekish talent show up on the track? when does a michael jordan prefer track over basketball.
Good question.
I btw always asked myself, which would have been Michael Jordans best event?
I remember that he stood not that much out in terms of stand still jumping ability, what we do remember had always been some kind of jump-speed athletism (including his unmatched body control of course)
Henry Lauterbach from GDR formerly had been able to jump 2,30m high combined with 8,35m longjump. I guess Michael Jordan would have been able to match these numbers in the 80ies.
Or would he have been the complete decathlete (he at least would not have lost focus over the two days)?
If James Kirani was capable of running a 19.5 200 (and right now he probably couldn't run 19.9 either) than maybe he could run 42.99; in my opinion if he had Michael Johnson's speed he could do it (maybe also Lashawn Merritt, same thing).
if he had michael johnsons speed he would not be the graceful spindly fellow that makes you and I admire his epic quartermiler aesthetics!!!!
