Clean start, Mena gets a great start, and Edoburun is starting to come through , here comes Burke. And China has won its first 100M title at the Worlds Youth Championship. The winner was Mo You xue. Listen to the announcers voice drop when he realizes who was fastest.

If I remember correctly it was Kareem Street Thompson who called that race.

If you look at the last 10 years of the Youth list you will see that Asian sprinters, especially the Japanese, have been as proficient as any country aside from the USA. In fact, Japan probably has put more kids on the Youth and Junior lists over the last 10 years than has Jamaica; China, obviously, has also been increasing her representation as well. So...it's really not that much of a surprise - especially at the Youth level.

With two Chinese under 10.10 this year there is a good possibility that one may go sub-11. Hopefully, that will set off an "arms race" in Asia with Japan and China pushing each other to the point that they close the current gap with North America.

Just as I place no stock in a U.S. Youth list as a predictor of future U.S. talent, I find such lists at at the world level to be equally useless more often than not.

When the rubber meets the road at the Senior level, it's still the same old suspects. And I suspect will continue to be so in perpetuity.

I agree, in part, that's why I said it's really not a surprise. However, I don't believe it will continue in perpetuity - even though I can't see the end of that tunnel.
