That's where I met him for the first (and I think the only) time. I felt honored to be in his presence.

Also, what about changes in the points tables??
Then do a qualitative comparison. Rand won the olympic silver medal in the pentathlon.

Ashton Eaton graces the cover of the current August Outside Magazine: A long layout w/ artsy pics and mundane personal tips from AE (Eat healthy, fix your habitual errors, rest well) interspersed w/ typical Outside recs. for specific exercises and routines from their stable of supposed experts.
[A stretch from the nominal topic, but it started with Ashton & Brianne, whom we all wish the absolute best. Same to "Larry Mara" (sic). Best Man, or Groomsman?

And a medal in the 4x100. I think she made the final in the individual hurdles too? Amazing athlete.

OK, just looked it up. The hurdles was 1960.

My first day on the job at T&FN I knew I had died and gone to heaven when Toomey & Rand wandered into the office. (December 29, 1969)

                --------------------
So now let's include their individual names, noting their four gold medals and records in 1952 Olympic Games at Helsinki:

Emil Zatopek (CZE) won 5000m / 10000m / Marathon -- Olympic Record in each
Dana Zatopkevova (CZE) won Javelin -- Olympic record
Speaking of power couples, what about Delisa Walton (1:57.80 for 5th in Seoul 1988) and Stanley Floyd (10.03A in 1982, ranked #1 in 1980)? Their oldest daughter Ebonie has run 51.25 for the 400. I don't know when Stanley retired (I think it was 1986), but Mrs. Floyd retired after the 1997 season.
