I left Mr. Bashim out of my pix . . . strained back?
I hope he goes 2.40 anyway!

Yeah, Who knows about Barshim Can he be in Prefontaine shape? Doubt it.
Too many known unknowns, Ukhov, Williams. Grabarz.
I'll go Bonarenko, Kynard, Drouin in that order. Insane to leave Ukhov out of the medals but can he still still do the Ukhov thing? Hasn't give me a sign all season.

        Re: 2013 WC—mHJ: Bondarenko favored

I'm going to go out on a limb here:

        1. Bondarenko - 2.38 (or higher. don't know the bar progression)
        2. Drouin
        3. Kynard

Bondo is the man to be beat. If he had made different decisions a couple weeks back he would be the current european record holder. Still, 2.41m shows that he is elite and no doubt, he's gained a ton of confidence since then.

I'm just not sure Barshim is back at 100%. At this level, elite performances are hard to come by even when one is healthy. Kynard may actually be close to the best in this field, if it weren't for his ridiculous passing strategy that he's been employing. I'm not expecting much different this time around. If he changes, look out. Drouin is the best technician in the high jump today. He's been silently flying under the radar, but his indoor and outdoor performances on the collegiate level and in Oregon show he is not to be taken lightly. I have a feeling he will peak when it counts and there could be an upset.

It's amazing how much a year can change things around. If you had asked me last year, I would have said Ukhov will be in near world record shape in view of where this year's WC is being held. He's still MIA. I don't see him miraculously righting the ship and wouldn't be surprised if he didn't make the final.
If you're ever walking down the beach and you see a girl dressed in a bikini made out of seashells, and you pick her up and hold her to your ear, you can hear her scream.

What ever happened to the good old 2" (5cm) progressions? 2cm just seems so . . . small.
Not a big fan of the 5cm progressions in PV either. 6" (15cm) may be too much when you approach w5/m6 meters, but 4" (10cm) is as small as you need. Small progressions make big jumps harder (even if if you pass some - the comp gets longer, the more bars there are). JMHO.

Jesse Williams seems to be out.....but this is not a surprise since he has been injury ridden all season

FFS Kynard failed 3 attempts @ 2.29 will have to wait and see now if he qualifies on count back

Drouin over 2.29 on his third attempt.....there is a slight wind in the area of the High jump according to my commentators

Looks like Kynard is barely in.

Two former world champs (Krymarenko and Williams) out.

They showed kynards last miss on 229 and he was a looong way from
thr bar. Even non high jumping experts could see it. He was very lucky like Reese to make it to the final.

I guess all that counts in qualifying. Britney Reese can give him
some advice on quick turnarounds between qual and finals

Lol she posted on twitter earlier that haters are still hating .........He'll have to do better to medal though and if he is on form he will .Barshim looked all right when I saw his jump but I will have to see how he does at the Higher heights. Ukhov also looked okay along with Drouin and Shustov
