Re: Best High School Team
No Hayward connection of which I know. My grandfather was the 11th of 11, as was his father. The crew tends to breed like rats, and is pretty prolific in Tex, Okla and Mo. There was a half of fame NFL cornerback, Mel Renfro, who was a pretty good hurdler at Oregon. He got 2nd in the NCAAs a long time ago. No relation, although I did claim him as a cousin after a football game in Redding in the late 50s. That team had been shredded by Mel the week before, and they asked me about him. I had never heard of him, but tried to claim relationship. As he was black, they were skeptical. LOL. Hurts to get caught in a blatant lie.

Maybe this year, but for year-to-year consistency, Conroe McCullough (also TX) has a very strong program. And step down in size to Texas 4A, and how about Lancaster? They won both boys and girls, by scores of 79-35 and 87-40, and they did the same thing last year by similar margins. In fact, I think this was the fourth consecutive crown for the girls!"Run fast and keep turning left."

Re: Best High School Team
Cinco Ranch had a great year this year with fabulous performances from a select few, however I don't feel as if this qualifies them as the best "team" in the nation. Their so called team was maybe 14 athlets deep at points. They have outstanding individuals but not alot of team depth. A title of the best team should go to a program such as the Woodlands in TX (formerly Conroe McCulluogh) or Kingwood HS in TX. Both programs have 200-300 participants every year at all levels and always fill every event. Cinco has one hjer and one tjer (who happen to be the same guy by the way). And where is their 4x400m relay, I have never seen a time for them in teh results? Cinco is a team with great athletes but not exactly a great team.

Re: Best High School Team
Off topic a bit, but at CA HS state Fri-Sat, I had a question to which no one had a clue. In states such as Texas & Florida where they have multiple champs, are divisions determined by school size? Or is it done like English League soccer, with promotion and relegation based upon each years meet?
To my earlier post, the James Logan boy's indeed won, with their studs doing all the scoring. LB Poly girls won by 30 points! More on the CA Hs thread.

Re: Best High School Team
A question to the Texans - how many sports are there in the outdoor season ? Up here in Massachusetts, we have good athletes is the distances but our depth isn't as good - besides the weather and the fact our state is much smaller in population - the big siphon is a longstanding tradition of lacrosse. Many lax athletes (not necessarily football players) would make excellent track athletes especially sprints, jumps, and throws. I honestly think lax players tend to be more athletic than soccer folks too. This post isn't meant to be just a jealous post - the situation is what it is - just curious that's all. I know lax is a booming sport in California; I'd like to see how it affects talent there.
In regards to the school size question, Massachusetts has 4 classes by school size, then an All-State championship a week later. There is only one All-State champion for boys and girls.
