Waller named Athlete of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS - Tisha Waller has been named USA Track & Field's
Athlete of the Week after posting a world-leading mark in the women's
high jump Saturday at the Nike Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon.

    The four-time U.S. outdoor champion cleared 1.98 meters/6 feet,
6 inches to edge reigning world indoor champion Kajsa Bergqvist's
1.95m/6-4.75 in winning the women's high jump.

World-leading performances by American athletes at Saturday's
Nike Prefontaine Classic include 2003 world indoor champion Tyree
    Washington's time of 44.70 seconds in the men's 400m, 2002 Indoor 200m
champion Kelli White's 10.96 in the women's 100m, and Olympic gold
medalist Stacy Dragila's clearance of 4.62 meters/15 feet, 1.75 inches
    in the women's pole vault.

At the Tucson Elite Classic in Tucson, Ariz., a world-leading
mark was posted by 2001 World University Games triple jump gold medalist
Kenta Bell, who had a leap of 17.33m/56-10.25 in the men's triple jump.

Now in its third year, USATF's Athlete of the Week program is
designed to recognize outstanding performers at all levels of the sport.
USATF names a new honoree each week and features the athlete on the
USATF Web site. Selections are based on top performances and results
