NY State high school championships June 5-6. Two boys from "lost Boys" of the Sudan civil wars brought into our town as 15 yr olds after 10 years in refugee camps with no families and one bowl of cornmeal daily. Long wonderful story short, it's now 3 yrs later and: One wins NYstate 800 in 1:50.33 going away, the other is placed in the slow heat of the 1600 (due to slow qualifier time in last week's cold windy meet, and denied appeals based on his obviously superior record) and runs ALL ALONE to a 4:10 and wins the overall in a timed final (the fast heat winner was 4:12).
