I'm watching the BAA feed and while Hall and Flanagan are leading, they sure look like they're working harder than those around them.

1:09:24 at the half-mar for Shalane.

Lots of good conversation and updates over on letsrun for those who are interested.

Just too much noise-to-signal over there.

Shalane must feel she can't win if she waits.

Meb's made a break, which seems odd for his chances.

Great shots of Shalane in the lead with a pack of 7 Africans patiently stalking her. I'll be amazed if she can finish in the top 3 . . . maybe . . .

She has a locomotive gait, while the Africans are just loping.

Agree with both comments. She is a larger athlete than the others so her gait will be different.

Indeed, and although the 2:08:40 pace seems under control (for the conditions) he and Boit have opened up a 38 second lead on the rest of the pack.

Should be interesting to see if and when the gap closes.

Very gutsy running in both cases.

The women's race is, outside of pace, to form. The men's race is bizarre. I can only figure the pack will close on them in the next 10 miles.

Shalane dropped by the lead group.

It beats zero signal here in this case. It's also very easy to scroll through and see the split updates being posted by the Johnsons, which has been far more useful to me this morning than the live feed.

Meb has over a minute lead!!!

                              Shalane ran out of gas.
