It's also known that the drug in question is EPO, which falls into the major-penalty category.

The phrasing is awkward...the going after someone suggests someone gave her a substance (I hate that as an excuse...clearly no one grows the stuff - it's still a choice to take it) but the second part is suggesting she didn't dope - which I assume he means 'didn't dope knowingly' but it's not quite an admission

In other words, don't you have to wait until all that is known....and resolved/played out?
That could take several weeks.....or months!

Jeptoo's agent says B-sample testing won't be necessary. From another article linked on the front page.
"Athletics Kenya said its medical and anti-doping commission would meet with Jeptoo early next week to determine whether she wants to have her backup "B" sample tested.
However, Rosa told the AP that the backup test was not required.
"We will legally go after the person or the people that convinced Rita to do this," Rosa said, adding Jeptoo's management had "nothing to do with" any doping.
"I am sorry for Rita," he said."

Well, the WMM have put in for (potential?) delay in announcing the winner, which has to be tied to a change in the eligibility (typically through a doping positive), so all of the pieces fit. We do not know the final status, and it will be interesting to see what the WMM group does. My guess that given that they have apparently been burned by Shobukova (who has said she contests the finding but will not give back the awards), I doubt that they are making any award to Jeptoo at this point.

gh are we on thin ice talking about this or is this quote enough for us to have a 'non speculative' conversation
in part:
Quote:
Athletics Kenya's vice president, Jackson Tuwei, said the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) had revealed a positive 'A' sample test for the blood-boosting drug Erythropoietin (EPO) -- which can massively boost endurance and, crucially, recovery times during high-volume marathon training.
"After we received the letter from the IAAF, we summoned Rita Jeptoo for a meeting in Nairobi. She denied having taken any drugs," Tuwei told AFP.
"We cannot condemn her. She has a right to contest it" and request that the 'B' sample also be tested, he added

In this case the situation with Shobukova is highlighted by RunBolgRun
What makes this situation even more challenging is the current issue that has evolved with Liliya Shobukhova, a former two-time World Marathon Majors Series winner, who is facing unresolved issues regarding athlete biological passport tests.
World Marathon Majors is disappointed to learn that Rita Jeptoo has apparently had an A test that proved positive for a banned substance under IAAF rules.

I am shocked, shocked to find doping going on in professional endurance sports.
(And just two days from someone actually saying "Here are your winnings, sir".)

This has received some gravitas.
There's now THREE pieces on the front page about this, the latest of which says the WMM Awards, scheduled for Sunday, have been postponed, awaiting further word on Jeptoo.

Rita Jeptoo tests positive before Chicago!
Just in on Twitter.
I wouldn't start a thread on anything drug-related unless it seemed legit.
This does, as the initial tweet on it came from Stephanie Rothstein-Bruce.
The article is from Larry Eder of RunBlogRun.
Here's the first paragraph of the longer article.
In an exclusive to RunBlogRun, trusted sources have confirmed that, at the end of September 2014, Rita Jeptoo tested positive in her A sample for a banned substance in an out-of-competition testing. The procedure was done in Kenya. Testing was done by a urine sample.Tags: None
