Running in Korea

Does anybody out there know what the running conditions are like in Korea? I recently signed a contract to go over to Korea to teach english but I would also like to continue running. I know that there are some great marathoners over there but I don't know much else. If anybody has any info. I would greatly appreciate it.

I went to Korea for the world cup last June, and I continued running there for the whole month I was there.

June was very steamy, very humid, as it was just starting the rainy season...

Korea is hills, hills, and more hills...

check in with the local US Armed Forces and you'll probably hook up with some other like minded runners.

Will you be in Seoul? I've been there 3 times and didn't have an easy time finding unpaved surfaces to run on. I don't know about the rest of the country.

If you're in Seoul, the bike paths next to the Han River were the best I could find.

In Busan, go to the beach, that's the best I could find.

You'll find things to be very inexpensive.

Actually Korea is a really good place to run. I live in Seoul and I have access to about 5 or 6 tracks within an hour subway ride. They just had a big foreigners only race the other day and there are actually starting to be a few good guys here. So far I know of a 3:39 guy, 3:41, a 1:53 and a 30:08 guy along with a few sub 2 guys for 800m. Really good place to also make money and if you get hooked up with a good job, its easy to fit running in as you only work 30 horus a week and often its in the afternoon after 2pm.
