He pulled his hamstring on the takeoff, same as at the Big 12 meet

Yeah. Actually, it is clearly bothering him. If you look at his right leg in pictures, you see some grey sneaking out, most likely a neoprene compression sleave. That's okay, though, hopefully he won't be damned for all time and can come back next year. The kid's got skills!

So much talk about Kilmartin, so little about Trey Hardee, who put up a big Day 1 followed by 14.15 in the hurdles. He very well may top 7900 for the Trials A standard, and he's only a sophomore. His 10.48 in the 100 is one of the fastest ever for a US Decathlete.

          Re: Kilmartin out

As I pointed out in a Texas Relays thread a couple of months back, despite being a year ahead in HS, Hardee is only 4 months younger than Kilmartin, who has perhaps been a bit overrated in the past by being a relatively old high schooler.

            Re: Kilmartin out

With the exception of this year's Texas Relays in which he had to finish to get a qualifying NCAA mark, Kilmartin has never successfully finished a Multi event that he had ANY competition in. This goes back to Youth Worlds. World Juniors, a publicized meet at Mt. SAC last year where he would of met open competition, and now NCAAs. He had reasons for all, sickness, jet lag, ankles, hamstrings, etc. Whether he is overated, or just not very tough, I think it's time to drop the high school hype on this guy. He's very good, maybe the best ever triple jumper (LJ, HJ, PV) and if they ever have an indoor Olympics he will be Gold, but outdoors, it would be nice if he actually DID something before we keep awarding him the best ever ranking. He never came close to the TRUE high school record, and there have been many 7100 High School decathletes.
