wLJ: Sosthene Moguenara jumped 6.86m in Saarbrücken today, amazing result for her first competition of the year. She improved her indoor PB by 11cm, last year only three women worldwide had better jumps indoors.

mLJ: 18 year old Max Heß (b. 96) jumped 8.03m in Chemnitz today, improving a 41 year old german junior record. Heß is actually a triple jumper, he was second in Eugene last year, with his first ever 8m jump he improved his LJ PB by over 50cm. Can't wait to see what he does in the triple jump.

Carolin Dietrich (formerly Nytra) is back, she ran the 60H at a local championship and won in 8.21s. This was her first race since 2012, she had been struggling with injuries since 2011. Let's hope she stays healthy this year, with her PBs of 7.80s indoors and 12.57s outdoors she was one of the fastest hurdlers in the world.
Anna-Lena Freese, one of our young talents who is also struggling with too many injuries, had her first race after an injury last summer and improved her 60m PB to 7.42.
Katharina Grompe, next young talent with lots of health issues, is planning her first race after an injury next week.

          a question for norunner...
There's a kid at Univ. of Minnesota, Luca Wieland - maybe a potential 7500 multi guy. He's listed at IAAF representing SUI, but Minn's roster has Berlin, Germany (Gymnasium Rotenbuhl Saarbrucken). Do you know if he's SUI, GER, both - just curious... thanks.

Luca Wieland is German and from Saarbrücken, there is a suisse javelin thrower called Lukas Wieland, that's probably where the error on the IAAF page comes from.

I was able to figure out the javelin discrepancy (their marks are merged together), but not the SUI/GER... Luca had a good heptathlon going the other day, not sure why he DNS the second day. He had 3 PRs the first day. Thanks for the follow-up.

Here's something that happens...well, never: A German sprinter beats the world champion.
Christian Blum won the 60m in Chemnitz today ahead of Richard Kilty, 6.56s vs. 6.57s.

Great to see some of the younger sprinters come through. Really surprised to see Burghardt's 7.32 ht and then 7.24 SF after her one poor race of 7.54 earlier in the year. But she's a great talent that I've been backing for a while and I hope she fulfils that talent. She gets out well for someone so tall. Happy to see Grompe also PB. It was a shame Freese went out but the 60m is too short for her.

lol was just posting as you were!
Have been watching online. Burghardt looks to have put on a bit of well needed muscle. I want her to run some 200s. She has great drive

I'm hoping they stay healthy, that could be a VERY fast relay, last few years we always had one slow girl in there but this year we could have more than four fast ones.

It certainly suggest a few of the women could be in 11.2 form this season
