    What's the story there?

    Re: Two 10.06's?

Insane finish! Mardy Scales third at 10.07? You've got to be kidding me!

I'm blown away that the top 7 were 10.22 or less. That's unbelievable for an NCAA meet.

      Full result (+1.7 wind):

      Gay 10.06
      Frater 10.06
      Scales 10.07
      Gailes 10.11
      Omole 10.15
      Brown 10.21
      Buchanan 10.22
      Christian 10.30
Burns scratched, I imagine because he got lane 9, which seems tough on someone with a 9.99w prelim.

I think the first seven all ran lifetime bests - fantastic race, wish I was there, but the live scoreboard worked really well, I was actually nervous waiting for the result to come up!

Finishlynx takes 1000 frames per second and the operator (Roger Jennings) can fairly easily determine which torso was ahead even though they have the same time to the 100ths. The acutal time reads out to the 10,000th (10.05xx vs. 10.05xy). Burns also was assinged a lane in the middle of the track but when he scratched or false started he is moved to the bottom of the screen but still shows his original lane assignment before the results start to pop up.

Oh man, and that was just an NCAA final. Just wait till U.S. trials. Will they be able to make some noise at U.S. trials? that's another story. I foresee either Gay or Scales at least making the relay pool. Gay should definitely be a threat for a spot for the 200 though.

"Will they be able to make some noise at U.S. trials?"

How many times have we seen great NCAA marks that can't be replicated at US Nationals? I really think that the NCAA meet is the be-all, end-all for even the most elites, and everything after that is anti-climactic. Hope that is not the case this year.

I know you're being realistic, but I get so much negative feelings on this board and I wonder why. Great things are happening and no one can predict the future. Just a thought.

Burns was actually in lane 5, he didn't show up though. Must have hurt himself running that 9.99.

It would have been even more interesting if Dabryan Blanton had been healthy enough to run. The indoor NCAA 60 champ hasn't run since the Big 12 meet, but he is currently riding a 15 race win streak in 4 different sprint distances.

Personally, I think he's faster than anybody else in the NCAA's when he's healthy. It's the healthy part that bothers me...
