Williams LJ's 1 cm off her PR in the first round (6.53)... Bougard could only respond with 6.16, and one could feel her frustration as she was holding her head.. That's more that olorin's allowable difference, so it looks like congrats to Williams. My heart can't take any more today - may be time to visit the high school nationals... Enjoy

The Williams 4678, of course, is a new Collegiate Record, breaking her own 4635 set last year. (And the 4635 had altitude-aid)

          Not a bad little pentathlon.

            Best ever mark for places 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7
And this is without Akela Jones that would have score 4,400+ and Vollmer DNF.

Although I wanted Bougard to win in some way "justice was served". Bougard was used in both the 60h and the LJ when she jumped six times in the night before the Pentathlon.
So - maybe if the threat of an injury is not enough, Bougard's relative poor performances in both individual events and the Pentathlon will cause more coaches to adopt the university of Georgia strategy (use multi-eventer only in their own events - they work hard enough as it is).

Williams is a heckuva competitor, she deserved the win. It was a high level competition with little room for error at the top.... and if it was the coaches' who wanted Erica to do the extra events, then I fully agree with you. Every year I see the Georgia multi-folks very organized and not over-used, they get a solid indoor/outdoor NCAA qualifier in early in the season, then get back to what needs to be done until conference/NCAA - and that recipe seems to work. Outdoors, I'm hoping both these ladies can improve their JT, and hopefully Williams can finally get her 200 time down - she's due. Enjoy outdoors.

A good interview with Kendell Williams:
                  http://ncaaindoorchampionships.runne...pionships-2015
                  Main points:
                  * Said that she is stronger this year and hope for big throws in the SP and JT
                  * Real big jump in the third foul jump
                  * The most improved event is the 800 (she did look like she could run faster)
                  * Thought that she didn't have a chance for CR after the poor SP
